Visitation in Nursing Facilities and Group Homes
As it has from the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Disability Rights New Jersey continues to monitor state restrictions on the rights of residents in nursing homes, developmental centers, state psychiatric hospitals, group homes, and supervised apartments that are imposed in the name of public health. With vaccine distribution and reopening of public places accelerating over the past several months, these policies should balance the burden on people with disabilities with evidence-based safety measures. The respective state regulators and Governor Phil Murphy regularly update or relax these restrictions as the COVID-19 crisis unfolds. State changes are often informed and supported by the current Federal Centers for Disease Control and Protection (CDC) Guidelines, which can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.
